Healthy Elderberry Spritzer
Elderberries are very healthy but also tasty, and the season is just beginning. We’ve been busy last week harvesting elderberries from our garden and making an elderberry syrup that can be used in many ways. Here’s a simple but tasty and refreshing use for the syrup.

Ingredients:
Basically the amounts depend on your taste. You could begin with for each glass:
- 1 ounce elderberry syrup
- 2-4 ounces sparkling mineral water
- ice cubes
- lime as garnish (optional)

Directions:
- Place the syrup in the bottom of each glass.
- Add ice cues, and then the mineral water
- Garnish with a slice of lime (optional)
- If you wish for more elderberry flavor, add more of the syrup and mix with a muddler.

Note:
We used this David Lebovitz’s Elderberry Syrup Recipe.

ooo, my husband’s parents have elderberries growing at their home, I’ll have to get some harvested and try this!! I think his dad will really love it, he’s all about the spritzers
thanks for posting this idea!
Hi Heather,
Thanks for your comment. This was the first time I made elderberry syrup. It’s rally not that hard to do, and worth the effort. I also made a really nice elderberry smoothie that we will post soon, and a delicious pears poached in elderberry syrup. Each morning my husband pours some elderberry syrup on his granola/oak milk cereal. Using a fork makes it easier to strip the berries off the stems. Make sure to pick out the green unripe berries. http://www.flickr.com/photos/sonicwalker/6057270018/in/photostream As you can see I wore gloves, but I’m not so sure it’s necessary. Good luck, hope you enjoy them as much as we have been.
Looks refreshing!
Hi Vic, hanks for your comment. Actually I find it amazing. This is my first experience with making elderberry syrups and things with it. I always knew it was healthy… but I did not know it was so tasty

started a second, and I’ve harvested some more to make more… neet
Hope you give them a try and enjoy
I love elderberry spritzer! How do you like to use elderberry syrup in the colder winter months?
