Man, that dip sounds so damn good! What a genius idea!

    Hi Chris,
Thank you for your enthusiastic comment. This was sooo tasty! The idea for it was my husband’s – (Vegalicious’ great photographer ad webmaster) – to make a spinach dip for French fries, or potato wedgies, because spinach goes so nicely with potatoes. As there are already many spinach/artichoke dips around, I wanted to make something different. Last week we enjoyed a great “winter pizza” (it will be posted soon). I made a nice vegan cheddar for it, and decided the spinach would go well with that, and I must say it was really good. I hope you give it a try – I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

French Fries with Vegan Cheddar Spinach Dip is a very good recipe and taste really good but I think if you make the French Fries yourself, it would have been better. I tried making Baked Sweet Potato Fries with your Vegan Cheddar Spinach Dip and is was fantastic!

  4. Anne says:

Spicy Steak Fries goes well with your fries’ dip, a very good combination that I would recommend you all to try. Thanks for the amazing recipe of the Vegan Cheddar Spinach Dip!!!!

  5. Chris says:

    Hi Anne,
Thank you for your comment. Yes, my intention had been for potato wedges (steak fries) but …well..long story, it wound up baked French fries but that was fine – it was a great combination – it was the dip that was important. Next time I will try the sweet potatoes that Helen recommended, as that sounds really good!

you seem to have omitted some of your ingredients from the process list!

This recipe reminds me of one from Veganomigon subbing the broth for miso and varying the herbs a little, though Isa’s recipe uses a lot less marg! Love the photo though, going to try my own variation of this now….

    Hi Maryrose,
Thank you for your comment, I will check the ingredients and process. I don’t have Isa’s Veganomicom, so I don’t know what her recipe is.
I’m glad you’ll be adapting your own recipe, as that is what is is really all about anyhow. All of these recipes, are merely suggestions and people can adjust to their tastes and preferences. I hope you enjoy it.

Dip looks really delicious, but what is Miso?

  9. Chris says:

    Hi Tanya,
Thank you for your question. Miso is very healthy. Here is a link with info
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miso It’s made from fermented rice and or soybeans. it’s quite salty and in that way is used as a slat replacement in may recipes. There are beneficial flora from the fermentation. Many vegan alternative cheese recipes use miso with nutritional yeast to give a cheesy flavor.

The dip is quite nice and was very tasty with the fries. I hope you try the recipe and enjoy it.

    Sounds good!

What kind of miso did you use? Red, yellow, white? Thanks!

  11. Chris says:

    Hi Rob,
Thank you for your question. Oh gosh, we are not so fortunate here to have various colors or strengths of miso. We’re lucky to even be able to get it at all. That which I used was a medium beige in color. I don’t think the color, or strength of the miso is so much an issue- it’s a matter of taste. Use what you have, and if it is a salty flavor, don’t add more salt to the recipe, or if it is weak in flavor perhaps use a bit more of either the miso or the salt. I hope this explains- the miso is used with the nutritional yeast to give a cheese-ish flavor. Mixed with the spinach, it tasted very nice. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
