I quite like it but I always remember my mother saying how much she hated it. She was born in Italy and polenta was their staple. I guess it reminded her too much of that time in her life as they were pretty poor at the time. I don't think she would hate it now as there are so many wonderful recipes like this to try. We make regular waffles quite often and this was a really nice variation, like you said with a special flavor and texture. We didn't make the berry sauce, but used jam and ice cream.
