		<description>Hi Charles, No, it's not a dumb question...there are many who would like to know.
Wash them well, then you could roast them in the oven (put a bit of olive oil on them and roast)..then once cooled, peel them. Or you can peel the raw beets with a veg. peeler (will make your hands slightly pink...but it washes off) ... and then slice them. Put them in a pan cover them with water, add a bit of salt and pepper and boil. Depending on how thick the pieces are, will depend on how long 15 - 20 minutes to get them soft usually.  Or you can make pickled beets slicing them thin, adding vinegar and sugar to the water, and optionally an onion also. The beets in this recipe were just plain boiled, then when they coled down, I peeled and sliced them.</description>
