Poll: Recipe downloads

For many months now we have been offering all recipes as MacGourmet download files and for a couple of months we also provided all recipes as PDF page (I didn’t enable this function again when I upgraded the weblog software).

We use MacGourmet ourself to manage all of the recipes. This software also allows us to export the recipes as MasterCook (Mac/MXP) or Meal-Master file.

If you like to download the recipes, please tell us which format you prefer.

I think most people like PDF because they do not have any recipe management software. MacGourmet is one of the best, but it’s limited to Mac users.
I use Krecipes (http://krecipes.sourceforge.net/), so I can use krecipes, plain text, html, meal master, master cook, recipeML and Rezkonv files.
Any of this fits to me :)

    Hi Virginia,
in the past I didn’t get any response on the pdf feature (not even when it went away). It took quiet a bit of time to implement and I don’t know if it works with this version of wordpress. I guess I will find out soon.

I like Krecipes, esp. it’s data model. Wouldn’t mind to see a Mac version with of it.

I prefer ‘other’. I don’t use any software management, I usually just save to a word file so that I can make my comments on the recipes as I use them. With .pdf I’d have retype everything.

I started reading vegalicious because of a mention on the MacGourmet website, and I (obviously) use MacGourmet, therefore I vote MacGourmet.

    Hi Moira,
there are also ways to add notes to PDF files. I don’t remember right now if the free Acrobat Reader has it, but if you are a Mac User, Apples Preview application allows you to add comments to PDF and save them.

Is there not a way to support a few of the options on export? MacGourmet offers a means to export a recipe in each of the means suggested. Of course it would be nicer if MacGourmet supported Automator or AppleScript to help ease the process.

By the way, I just want to say that Vegalicious and the Recipe RSS feed is absolutely fantastic! Just wish I could find some of the ingredients to the recipes so I could enjoy such great food, but alas… for now it is impossible in the country where I am.

After updating to the latest version of Wordpress I also enabled the pdf export again, which you can find on the right side on every recipe page.
